Pretty much everyone in the world has had some type of acne breakout at some point in their lives. For many people however, it is a regular occurrence which leads to low self-esteem and plenty of embarrassment. How to deal with and treat acne is difficult to say because it is different for each individual. There exists various reasons for the breakouts in each individual. Therefore, what works for some may not work for others.

The first thing that must be understood is that hormones are what play the biggest role in developing acne. That\’s why many teenagers develop pimples, blemishes, etc. In women, it is quite common because of the hormonal changes that occur every month with the menstrual cycle. So, it isn\’t uncommon for women to have some form of breakout even in adulthood.

Even though there is no known cure for acne to date, there are solutions and treatments that are available over the counter, and as well as with prescription, among other things, which can make a difference. For one thing, it may reduce the amount of breakouts you have, as well as how severe they may be.

The reasons why people break out our because of the overproduction of the sebum, or oil; bacteria building up; and the way the dead skin cells shed, which could lead to irritating the hair follicles. When the pores and hair follicles become plugged with dirt, oil, and dead skin cells, acne can occur.

An overproduction of this oil in combination with the dead skin cells building up, can easily cause the plugging of the follicles and start to produce various types of acne. Many believe that certain dietary factors play a role in producing this extra oil. The foods we discussed here are those that are high in starch, like the different varieties of breads, chips, and potatoes. All of these are known to increase the blood sugar in individuals. Therefore, it may be in your benefit to reduce your consumption of these foods.

In addition to that, try to wash your face thoroughly with water and dabbing it dry with a clean towel. This will wash away and absorb all the sebum there has been overproduced.
