Cheap Airfare Makes You Travel Lightly

Traveling lightly does not only mean the absence of excess baggage. It could also mean traveling light heartedly because your travel is light on your budget. So help you have that light hearted travel, I have compiled a few tips that will help you get those sometimes hard to get cheap airline tickets.

1.) Well all know about airfare wars. This is where airlines battle it out to provide the cheapest fare in short period of time (usually off season). Sometimes a new airline company gives out incredibly cheap fares as their way of introducing their company. Make it a point to be updated with all these by reading the newspaper or watching/listening to the news.

2.) Don\’t be adamant with your flight schedule. Try to be flexible with it because there are days, such as Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday when tickets become cheap. Also the time of the day matters as well. Cheap tickets can also be acquired if you travel late nights or very early morning. Another thing is, one stop flights are usually discounted.

3.) Some airlines offer discounts for car rental or hotel accommodations in your travel destination. These are usually included as a package in your ticket. So make sure to make it clear with the airline if such is provided.

4.) Learn how to inquire with the airline reservations officer whether there you are availing of the cheapest tickets and find out other options which will eventually get you the cheapest one. If you have an internet access, go to all the airline websites and compare their prices. Basically, buy the cheapest airfare.

5.) Standby fares for off season fliers tend to have discounts as well so inquire about it. Standby fares are often hard to acquire during peak season because airlines overbook and spare seats are hard to find.

6.) Check the travel section of the newspaper under \’Ticket Consolidators\’ and buy tickets from them. Consolidators buy tickets in bulk from airlines to help them fill up seats. These consolidators then sell the tickets at a discount.

7.) Another way of availing discounts is simply to book your ticket 21 days ahead of schedule. Should you want to fly during holidays, such as November and December, make sure to book even earlier. Just remember that frequent flier miles cannot be used during holiday \’blackout periods\’.

8.) Should you plan to have a round trip ticket or a connecting flight, make sure to stay with the same airline as they would usually give out discounts.

Now remember, the lightest way to travel is to have a fare that makes you feel light. I do hope that I have helped you with the tips mentioned above and may you feel light when you travel.
